The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has issued a warning that some consumers have received phone calls from a person or persons purporting to be from a GBCA call centre.
The caller claims that the GBCA is operating a program in conjunction with the federal government to conduct environmental checks on people's homes.
Spokesperson Karen Jamal says that the Green Building Council of Australia is NOT operating any program - federally funded or otherwise - to conduct audits of people's homes.
"To protect yourself from a scam of this nature, do not provide any personal information over the phone", Jamal advises.
"If you do want more information, ask the caller for a letter in writing before you provide any personal information."
